Never belittle the smallest good deed…

By Arshad Gamiet
“Sadly, these blessed days of Muharram have also been so traumatic for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan. Who can ever forget those desperate scenes at Kabul airport? Dozens of men were desperately hanging on to a plane that was taking off. Some fell to their death from hundreds of feet above the tarmac.
This is how 20 years of war has come to an end in Afghanistan, which has been described as “the graveyard of empires…”

America and its allies helped the Taliban on the road to victory

By Yvonne Ridley
“Let this be a lesson to all who look to America to police the world. The US message is clear: We bombed, invaded, and occupied your country and now we have quit, leaving someone else to sort out the mess that we made. What a propaganda tool for the Taliban. Is it any wonder that the movement has encountered little resistance on the road to Kabul?”

Fake news and truth seekers

By Arshad Gamiet
“The battle between truth and falsehood, between good and evil is as old as humanity itself. This battle will continue until the end of time. We are caught up in the middle of the storm. We have to navigate our way to safety, and we have to teach our children and grandchildren how to do likewise….”

The Powerless and the Night of Power

By Shaykh Sadullah Khan
“I reflect on the Night of Power, those it empowered, the once powerful, now powerless. Muslims; once the bearers of the torch of civilization, now victims of global injustice. Never in history has a community of faith been so displaced, so victimized on such a large scale as the ummah in the last 37 years. The fact that over sixty percent of all world refugees at present are Muslims bears testimony to that…”

Lailatul Qadr: The Night of Power

By Arshad Gamiet
“Let us spend our Night of Power, in Dhikrullah, remembering Alláh, swt, and offering thanks to Him, for his countless blessings that we enjoy each moment of our lives. Let us passionately seek Alláh’s help, Glorified and Exalted is He, to lift the burden of injustice and oppression from so many Muslim communities around the world….”

Muslim Controversialists: Thriving on Fitnah on Social Media

By Shaykh Abu Aaliyah Sukheel
“Turning Facebook into Disgracebook, or turning Instagram into Fitnahgram, may help gain us a larger following or more likes. It may be a winning formula in terms of our murky desires for self-promotion. It might even assuage an ego desperate for attention and self-glory. But such insincerity will corrupt hearts and damage whatever little relationship we have with our Lord…”

Illness, death and bereavement

By Arshad Gamiet

“As Covid-19 and its later mutations sweep across the world, there is hardly anyone who hasn’t been affected by its devastating consequences. If the virus has until now not reached you and your family, you are indeed fortunate. But you probably know someone or know of someone who became ill or died from it. There are so many tragic stories of loss and bereavement every day.
How should a Muslim deal with severe illness and death of a loved one? What good advice is needed by those left behind, before, during and after tragic loss of life?”

Remembering Allah during these hard times

By Arshad Gamiet
“Our reckless lifestyle has driven a climate emergency that is near tipping point. The Covid-19 pandemic has spread far more widely and quickly because of clumsy leadership. Unscrupulous and shameless politicians and their friends in the media spread blatant lies to foster fear and hate. Endless wars are killing, maiming and displacing millions of people around the world. How did we get into this mess, and how do we get out of it?”
