Living with Taqwa: Accountability, Redemption, and Noble Character
Living with Taqwa: Accountability, Redemption, and Noble Character
By Essam Mahgoub
Sins of the heart, such as arrogance, envy, and hidden pride, must be purified. Sins between a person and Allah, which can be forgiven through sincere repentance and seeking forgiveness. Sins involving the rights of others, such as ظلم or backbiting, which require restitution or forgiveness from those harmed, as they directly affect one’s accountability in the Hereafter. Furthermore, Patience and forbearance, especially when provoked. Overlooking minor faults, preserving relationships by not reacting harshly to every mistake. True forgiveness (SAFH)—forgiving others completely without revisiting or reminding them of past wrongs.
