The world’s most powerful nation is unable or unwilling to protect its own citizens from gun violence. What can we learn from great Muslim leaders of the past? Caliph Omar (RA) declared that “The strong in front of you are weak until they secure the rights of the weak.” He took his responsibilities as ruler very seriously. He once said that if a donkey stumbled over a loose paving stone in Baghdad, then he (Omar) who was the leader in Madinah would have to answer to Allah for it. This is the calibre of leadership we need today…
