What After Ramadan?

By Omar Medani
During Ramadan, the devils were chained and we could worship Allah without any sinful distractions. Now that Ramadan is over, Shaitan will work hard to make up for lost time. We must be on our guard, and not allow his evil temptations to undermine the good things we have done whilst fasting…

Lessons from one of the greatest teachers of the Qur’an

By Basharat Ali
Musab ibn Umayr was the first ambassadors of Islam. He gave up his wealth, his high reputation and even his safety to defend Islam during the difficult early years. He learned from the Qur’an and applied what he knew even before the whole revelation was complete. He spoke gently and persuasively to win over enemies to Islam. He paved the way for the Hijra, so that the Muslim refugees from Makkah would have a safe welcome in Madinah. He carried the Prophet’s banner at Badr and was martyred at Uhud. How many of his inspiring examples can we apply to our situation today?

Sultan of the Heart

By Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad
“This Eidul Fitr khutbah was delivered at the new Cambridge mosque. Eloquent and inspiring, it covers some of the most pressing issues of the day, and how we Muslims can be excellent role models for others. Islam is a religion of the fitrah,  and we should be good custodians of the natural environment that Allah has gifted to us as his earthly trustees….”

Eid Khutbah from the Jurgens Centre

By Essam Mahgoub

“We are both slaves and worshippers to Allah. We are slaves in the sense that all functions of our bodies that are not under the control of our Will, like our heartbeat, hormones and autonomous functions work under Allah’s direct control. Then we are also worshippers, in that we have the choice to follow or not to follow Allah’ls guidance…”

Taking the spirit of Ramadan with us

By Abdul Basith Awan

“When we leave our homes, we instinctively check: keys, wallet and phone. That’s normal these days. But most of us forget the most important advice. Centuries ago, Sayyid Abdul Qadir al Jaylani said in his first khutbah that we should check these three things first: 1. Do the things that Allah has commanded us to do; 2. Avoid the things that Allah has forbidden, and 3: Be content with whatever Allah has decreed.”

Ramadan in the Quran

By Atif Jung
“Just like a hairy caterpillar emerges from a cocoon to become a beautiful butterfly, the fasting person should emerge from Ramadan with a beautified character and faith in Allah improved.”

The Divine Closeness

By Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad,

Ramadan is a special opportunity to cultivate khushoo’ (humility, modesty, complete self-effacement, a sense of broken-ness in the presence of Allah)…

The Reality of Fasting

By Farooq Khan

“Please note, it is not righteous to fast while travelling, nor is it better for the ill to fast if it is difficult for them to do so. In these cases, they are to make use of the permission that Allah has furnished them with, because He likes it when people take heed of the mercy that He has endowed.”
