“Do not undermine your own good deeds, by envying what others have…” (Apologies for the poor sound quality of this recording)
This khutbah emphasises our prepartation of meeting Allah. Worldly concerns obscure us form the need to purify our hearts and to prepare the Soul for its journey home to its origins.
“If we really had an intimate relationship with the Quran, with Prophet Muhammad and with Allah, we would not be so miserable about our present situation…”
“To guarantee Allah’s forgiveness, we must do three things: 1: Seek knowledge, 2: Acknowledge, and 3: Take Action. Know what pleases and displeases Allah, acknowledge our sins, and take action to ensure we do not repeat any sinful actions…”
“Don’t just take your Islam for granted, following blindly. Allah wants you to question, to inquire, to investigate, to interrogate until you find the truth…”
“We Muslims complain that Islam is being blamed for the actions of a few violent political extremists. How can we then blame all Danish people for the actions of a few cartoonists and their newspaper? How can we blame all Americans for the actions of a few neocons and a deluded preacher? It’s hypocritical! Where is our wisdom?…”
“Never belittle the smallest good deed you’ve done. Never let your sins leave you so overwhelmed by guilt and remorse that you give up doing good. Never despair of Allah’s overwhelming capacity to forgive and show mercy…”
