Be authentic: be yourself

By Arshad Gamiet
“In North America today, Islam is spreading rapidly where our brothers and sisters welcome others, without judgement, in the spirit of ta’līf, which means, to bring together, or to reconcile. Their motto is:
“Come as you are, to Islam as it is.” No fuss, no bother, no complicated rituals. It’s a simple invitation to just “Come as you are, to Islam as it is.”
It’s a way of being authentic, being true to yourself, and accepting the real, authentic Truth that is Islam.”

Love for the beloved of Allah

By Ml Mohammed Kazi
Did you know that you are the most beloved of Allah’s Most Beloved? You and I are blessed members of the ummah of Muhammad sws. This inspiring khutbah describes how our beloved Prophet sws will intercede on our behalf on the Day of Judgement, when no one else can intercede for their loved ones…

A prayer for humanity..

By Shaykh Abdul Hamid Lachporia
“O Allah! Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the controversial teachings of arrogance, divisions and hatreds which have badly infected our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; reunite us in bonds of love..”

Who will intercede for you on the Day of Judgement?

By Essam Mahgoub

Even though our final destination may be in Allah’s garden, how can we be sure that we won’t first have a temporary taste of the hellfire? This khutbah offers some good advice to ensure that we avoid that nasty experience and pass on from this life straight through to Al Jannah Firdaws…

Some Scenes from the Day of Judgement

Beware of taking Allah’s mercy for granted. You may fool yourself into thinking that you can get away with repeated sinful behaviour, and that Allah will overlook that. Don’t count on it! Never repeat your sins intentionally. Show real remorse. Stop sinning. Be determined not to slip backwards. Do good deeds instead, and sincerely turn towards Allah’s obedience.

Hijra

Brothers and sisters, some of us may have come here to study or to advance our professions and to increase our personal wealth; others may have come to find a refuge from political violence and oppression. These are perfectly good reasons for migration. But remember that he best migration, the real Hijra for us is to undertake the journey from what we are now to what Allah wants us to become…

Beware of Shayṭān!

by Shahid Farooqi
Shayṭān is a subtle operator, setting traps for the unwary. This khutbah uses references from the Quran to warn of Shayṭān’s tricks. If we take note of these warnings and act on them, we will insha-Allah earn Allah’s good pleasure.

Paradigms of Leadership

The classical Islamic virtue of Futuwwa (Heroic chivalry) is beautifully illustrated here using fourth Caliph, Ali (RA) as the archetype. Ali was not only a fearless warrior; like his cousin and father-in-law Prophet Muhammad sws, he exemplified nobility, wisdom and humility. This is part of a series of lectures by the Dean of Cambridge Muslim College, Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad (Tim Winter)
