Arabic introduction

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam,

On the Day of Judgement the Angel that kept each of us company during our lifetime on Earth will present the person with a record of his / her deeds to Alláh (The Most Exalted). Where upon it will be said: -

Do you twain, hurl into Hell fire each rebel ingrate.” The statement being addressed as a command to the Angels described as "the driver“ and “the witness” mentioned in a previous ayah or to the Angel entrusted with the person’s torment.

The ayah describes those who are to be consigned to Hell fire: (May Allah save us from its torment) as:

1.       Those who reject Alláh being their Lord, reject his Deen, reject his Messengers and Angels and reject his Scriptures and the Last Day.

2.     Those who obstinately reject the Truth.

3.     Those who forbid good, be that to themselves, by way of acts of worshipped devotion or to other fellow human beings.

4.     Those who transgress all bounds and cast doubt and suspicion.

5.     And worst of all – those who take other things or people as their Lord instead of or besides Alláh (Subhanah)

Such people would, as always, try to put the blame on others and provide endless excuses. Therefore, the following ayah states: -

His companion will say: ‘Our Lord, I did not make him transgress but he had gone too far astray.’

Alláh, (The All Knowing), who has knowledge of everything and who had warned all mankind beforehand would tell them:

Dispute not in My presence. I had already sent you advance warning.

Even such people are offered the assurance from Alláh (Subhanah).

The Word changes not with Me and I do not the least injustice to My servants.”

The Word may refer to the evidence and the arguments presented – that thing cannot be corrupted by lies or denials or the Decision of Alláh (The Exalted) based on His full knowledge and the truthful evidence submitted.

The Day We will ask Hell Fire: ‘Are you filled to the full?’ It will say: ‘Are there more to come?’”

This is an indication of the size and huge capacity of Hell Fire (May Allah save us from it).

And with a quick change of scenery, the ayah now describes Paradise and the people of Paradise (May Allah make it our Eternal Home).

And the Garden (Paradise) will be brought nigh to the Righteous – no more a thing distant. (A voice will say): ‘This is what was promised for you – for every penitent, heedful (person). Who feared the Most Gracious unseen and brought a heart turned in devotion to Him.

These are the four basic and fundamental characteristics of the dwellers of Paradise who are assured:

Enter you therein in peace and security. This is the Day of Eternal life. There will be for them therein all that they wish and there is more with Us.”

Allah (The Most High) informs us that He (Subhanah) created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in 6 days but was not touched by a sense of weariness afterwards. This is a direct rebuttal of the claim by the Jews that the Lord rested on the Sabbath implying that He (Subhanah) was tired or weary.

Then addressing His Messenger (peace be upon him) saying (the meaning of which reads):

Bear, then, with patience, all that they say and celebrate the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting. And during part of the night also celebrate His praises and likewise after the prostration.”

This is understood by scholars to refer to the (tasbeeh) after the prayers, as is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

The Surah then ends with reminders of the events of the Day of Resurrection when, with the blowing of the trumpet, mankind shall rise to the command of their Lord.

(Closing Dua’a)
