Mocking Prophets won’t weaken Islam

“And indeed, you [O Mohammed] are of a great moral character.”

In the name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Compassionate.

This article will, insha’a Allah, benefit those who believe in The Almighty God, His angels, His Scriptures, His Messengers and the Last Day.

Every now and then some morally deranged, ignorant and infamous individuals driven by hate decide that this may be an opportunity for them to disturb the peace, create discord and perceive that an ill-conceived idea of theirs might present them with a golden opportunity to entrap others and bring themselves fame. Let them know that they can fool some of the people some of the time but can not fool all of the people all of the time and instead they gain infamy and disrespect. One “good” outcome of this latest episode is that the producer of the film will appear in a court of law.

Throughout the history of mankind, the prophets and messengers of God, peace be upon them all, whom He, out of His mercy, sent to guide people to the right path that will lead them to happiness and salvation, have been disbelieved, ridiculed, abused and even murdered. The holy Qura’an tells us a great number of stories of the prophets and messengers who suffered thus. The prophet Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him, was no exception and like his brothers (the predecessor prophets and messengers) suffered verbal and physical abuse and attempted murder. Now that they cannot physically harm him, they resort to attempts of “character assassination”. But, can anyone really even dream of achieving this? He, peace and blessings be upon him, wears the highest badge of honour from the Almighty Who said of his messenger:

“And indeed, you [O Mohammed] are of a great moral character.” (Surat al Qalam 68:4)

Let The Holy Qura’an relate the narrative of some of these events:-

“…there have already come to you [O people] messengers before me with clear proofs and [even] that of which you speak. So why did you kill them, if you should be truthful?” (Surat A’li Imran 3:183)

“Then if they deny you, [O Mohammad] – so were messengers denied before you, who brought clear proofs and written ordinances and the enlightening Scripture.”(Surat A’li Imran 3:184)

Such people, out of their utter ignorance and mischief, thought they are simply hurting the messengers whom they disbelieved because they were human beings just like them. Indeed the messengers were deeply offended and, at times, thought they shall never be able to discharge the duty entrusted to them. They even thought they were personally disbelieved but God, in His Infinite Mercy, consoled them and revealed to them the Truth and granted them success.

“We know that you, [O Mohammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allah that the wrongdoers reject.”(Surat al Ana’am 6:33)

“And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over [the effects of] denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words of Allah. And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.”(Surat al Ana’am 6:34)

“And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule.”

(Surat al Ana’am 6:10)

“And already were [other] messengers ridiculed before you, and I extended the time of those who disbelieved; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty.”(Surat al Ra’ad 13:32)

“Indeed, We are sufficient for you [O Mohammed] against the mockers.” (Surat al Hijr 15:95)

Allah, The Exalted in His Glory, Most High, can see, hear and plan the fate of those who disbelieve and transgress.

“And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper.

” (Surat al Furquan 25:31)

“And if they deny you, [O Mohammad] – already were messengers denied before you. And to Allah are returned [all] matters.”   (Surat  Fatir 35:4)

“And the people of Noah – when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment.” (Surat al Furquan 25:37)

And when the people of Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, wanted to burn him alive in the raging fire, Allah, The Almighty commanded:

“…O fire be coolness and peace for Ibrahim. And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers.”

(Surat al Anbia’a 21:69-70)

“… and Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.”(Surat al Hajj 22:44)

That is because Allah, out of His Mercy and Compassion gives the disbelievers chances that they may repent and accept the Truth revealed to His messengers.

He [Noah] said,

“My Lord, support me because they have denied me.” (Surat al Mu’minuon 23:26)

[Allah] said, “After a little, they will surely become regretful.”

(Surat al Mu’minuon 23:40)

This refers to both the punishment in this life and the more painful and longer lasting torment of the hereafter.

The Guidance that Allah, The Exalted in His Glory, Most High, revealed to His Messengers is indeed intended for our benefit and as a warning to the wrongdoers of the present and future days that they shall meet the same fate as those of old. We have every right to be offended, angry and condemn their evil in the strongest terms working with the rest of humanity to deny such individuals the opportunity to sow the seeds of hate. They should be marginalized and not afforded a platform. “good” news is that certain countries are already at work to achieve this legally.

Let us refer to the Holy Qura’an again:-

“Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.” (Surat al Mu’minuon 23:96)

“And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace…” (Surat al Furquan 25:63)

And when the Messenger of Allah (Mohammed), peace and blessings be upon him, was verbally and physically abused, he supplicated to The Most Merciful:”O Allah, forgive them for they know not.”

“But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.” (Surat Qaaf 50:5)

They ridiculed the prophets and messenger then and were consequently punished. Those who do likewise now shall indeed suffer for their transgression. If they mock and ridicule in this life we shall also ridicule them in the Hereafter:

“So Today [the Day of Judgment] those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers.” (Surat al Mutaffeen 83:34)

And they shall not escape the punishment reserved for them,… Indeed it is greater and longer lasting than anything any human being can inflict :

“And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.” (Surat al Thariat 51:60)
